Now Serving Black Chicken

Updated on August 26, 2015

The Newest Craze

Are you sure it's chicken?

Taste it to find out

I have never seen anything cooked to black

Seasoned properlly and cooked to perfection

At least in my mind

The great charcoal flavor adds to the mouth watering, juicy, plump, tender chicken

What a combination

Like a one two punch in boxing

You might want to cut it in smaller pieces

So I don't choke

Don't be silly

Than your traditionally used to

Drizzle an incredible amount of cinnamon apple sauce over the top

Not to hide the chicken

Only to add another secret ingredient

Like whipped cream on ice cream

To make it more delicious

So you say the chicken is hard and dry

Not so

It's just a challange to swallow

There will never be another dish like it

You could add some fire to the chicken while it's cooking

A little red hot Tabasco sauce would do the trick

Looking for the recipe

This one I can't tell you

Unless you promise to keep it a secret

Season the chicken overnight

Shhhhh

Are you listening ?

I don't want anyone to hear

A touch of garlic and fresh basil

I almost forgot the parsley

Add some lemon zest

Salt and pepper if preferred

Then you ask your husband to cook on the outdoor grill

When he turns on the gas grill and let's it preheat

To about 400 degrees

When he is ready

Let him put it on

Your busy cooking the homemade mashed potatoes

He is busy doing three things at once

You even set the timer for five minutes

He turns the heat down to medium

When the timer goes off he qickly turns the amazing chicken

Golden in color on this side

He turns the heat even lower

I will set the timer

No need I got it

He runs downstairs to check the wash

Brings up some clothes from the dryer to be folded

Gets the mail

Checks the garden for a nice ripe tomato

Returns in the house

Feeds our cat

Gives her a treat for catching a fly

Then begins to wash the dishes left in the sink from earlier

His keen senses picks up an acute smell

Within seconds his mind begins to focus

His feet already in action

Racing out to save what's left

The poor chicken has been cooked to death

With a great big smile

Lunch is served

One you will remember from a long time to come
